Dark Side of the Earth, developed by EarthGames, provides users with a unique opportunity to explore the nuances of Earth's sunlight distribution and its implications for day and night. This application invites users to visualize the Sun's impact on our planet, making it an intriguing resource for those interested in astronomy and geography.

The experience begins with the perfect balance of an equinox, where every location on Earth experiences exactly 12 hours of daylight and darkness. Additionally, users can observe the contrasting phenomena of solstice, characterized by regions of perpetual light and darkness depending on their hemispherical position. The app further allows exploration of the seasonal cycle as it showcases the dynamic interplay between sunlight and the Earth’s orbit.

Diving into the technical aspects, Dark Side of the Earth is founded on accurate scientific data, incorporating complex geometric calculations to portray realistic diurnal and seasonal cycles. The colors representing Earth's surface during day and night are informed by elevation, land cover, and population density, while real star charts add depth to the visual experience.
